16th Annual Scallop and Music Festival

The 16th Florida Scallop and Music Festival planning is underway for this August.   The Gulf County Chamber of Commerce hosts the festival which brings arts and crafts, music, and the guest of honor, the Gulf’s famous Scallops on Friday, August 3rd and Saturday, August 4th at George Core Park in Port St Joe, Florida.

The kickoff on Friday features an all-day Merchant Sidewalk Sale, where local vendors and artists will showcase their best in the historic downtown area.  The Scallop and Music Festival will open the gates at 5 pm est where guests will enjoy a variety of vendors while the music for the evening will begin at 6 pm with Reed Waddle, who just released his new album this year, “Creature of the Heart” being followed by Port St Joe’s very own The Bo Spring Band.   General festivities on Saturday will kick-off at 10 am est.   A variety of vendors will serve scallops to festival-goers and other vendors will also be serving refreshing snacks and meals.   Guests can also shop the many craft vendors throughout the day and pick up one of a kind souvenirs or maybe some merchandise from one of the many musical artist.  The fun continues on into the evening at 5 pm est with Tallahassee musical talent, 19 South, and “Hits and Grins”, who consist of a trio of talented writers from Nashville.  Their songs have been recorded by George Strait, Alabama, Reba McEntire, Colt Ford and many more.  Be sure to get there early to set-up your chair cause you will not want to miss headliner Aaron Tippin who made his reputation with such hard-core honky-tonk performances as “Working Man’s Ph. D.”, “Kiss This”, and “There Ain’t Nothing Wrong With The Radio”.

The Florida Scallop Festival promises fun for the whole family with a special Kid’s Zone, Car Show and many more family-friendly attractions all weekend long. Admission for children ages 6 and younger is free and also for military personnel with valid I.D. General admission to the festival is $5.00 per person on Friday, and $5.00 per person on Saturday till 4 pm then tickets will be $10.00 per person.
