Plein Air

(Click for details)

Nationally recognized plein air artists have been selected to capture the allure of the Florida's Forgotten Coast with paint and canvas. Artists will be painting on the beach, across the marsh, beside the lakes and throughout the streets of waterfront towns. You are cordially invited to join us at this premier art exhibition and sale featuring on-location artists. Experience beauty through the eyes of America's finest plein air artists!

The event includes five exhibits across the coast, daily artist demonstrations, two workshops, art sales and a series of public receptions. Art enthusiasts are encouraged to visit the exhibits and attend the many free special events that occur throughout the 10 day event. "Many local artist gather and paint alongside the event's invited artists; it is amazing to see the art being created" stated Joe Taylor, event chair. The “Wetroom”, located in the Apalachicola Center for History, Culture and Art in Historic Apalachicola, will be stocked with fresh paintings that the artists deliver daily throughout the event.

"America's Great Paint-Out" is coordinated by the Forgotten Coast Cultural Coalition, a non-profit organization established to produce regional multi-community cultural events that improve the quality of life for the coastal area.  The communities of Mexico Beach, WindMark Beach, Port St. Joe, Cape San Blas, Wewahitchka, Indian Pass, Apalachicola, Eastpoint, St. George Island, Carrabelle, SummerCamp and Alligator Point have joined forces to produce the most impressive art event seen along the coast.

A selection of America's finest Plein air artists will be participating in this year's event.  The public is invited, encouraged even, to locate, stop and watch the painters throughout the week.
